The first Tuesday in November saw SAMS members and their partners saddle-up for the inaugural SAMS Melbourne Cup function. With a quality field of 33 fillies and geldings the event proved to be one of the best on the calendar. Clerk of the Course, Alan, kept the crowd amused while our own SP bookie, Macka, relieved everybody of their small change. On-course catering and drinks were handled by John, Graham and Keith so nobody went home hungry or thirsty despite blowing their money on the $2 sweep. Prizes for best dressed filly and best fascinator went to Toni and Shirley. No protests were lodged and a wonderful day was had by all.
